Join us for the launch of AAG’s new webinar series connecting research to real world practice, designed to bring cutting edge research directly to health professionals across the aged care sector. This pilot program showcases the innovative work of AAG Research Trust awardees and demonstrates how evidence based findings can meaningfully inform everyday practice.
Episode 1 will explore ways to enable older people to improve wellbeing through physical activity and meaningful, connected engagement. Hear from leading researchers Dr Chiara Naseri and Dr Aruska D’Souza, whose awarded projects highlight practical pathways to improving health outcomes for older people.

Dr Chiara Naseri
Specialist in Falls Prevention and Management/Senior Research Fellow
St John of God Health Care/The University of Western Australia
Dr Chiara Naseri, 2022 Hal Kendig Research Development Program awardee and AAG Fellow, is a research physiotherapist and grass roots health service developer focused on reducing age related functional decline and improving older people’s experience of ageing. Dr Naseri received the 2022 AAG Research Trust Hal Kendig Research Development Program Award for work on factors influencing older adults’ engagement in community hubs. She completed her PhD in 2020 and is a Clinical Specialist in Falls Prevention at St John of God HealthCare.

Dr Aruska D’Souza
Allied Health Research and Knowledge Translation Lead and Margaret Nayler Postdoctoral Research Fellow
Royal Melbourne Hospital/La Trobe University
Dr Aruska D’Souza, 2023 RM Gibson Program awardee, is a Melbourne based physiotherapist and early career researcher interested in health services and acute geriatric care. Since graduating from La Trobe University in 2010, she has worked in the public health system. She completed her PhD in 2023 on predicting discharge destinations for older adults. Dr D’Souza is the Allied Health Research and Knowledge Translation Lead at The Royal Melbourne Hospital and a Margaret Nayler Postdoctoral Research Fellow at La Trobe University.
Adding lived experience to the conversation, Professor Jane Mears will share reflections on what meaningful engagement towards healthy ageing means from the perspective of an older Australian.
